What Makes a Good Mocktail?

I am an aficionado of mocktails. Wherever I go I ask the bartender to make me his best "Virgin" drink. I do this whenever I go on vacation and almost every time I go out to dinner with friends.

My all-time favorite mocktail experience was in Grand Cayman with my sister Brittany. We would wave down the cabana boys (thank you dad for family vacations and Marriott Points) and order these outlandish blended drinks complete with pink and blue umbrellas. I've never had the same experience again, though I've tried at many a Marriott, and it's never been quite the same....They are missing the Cabana's boys....Blast that Kona Hawaii Marriott. You would think in Hawaii of all places they would have Cabana boys....NOT.

When we began tossing around ideas for what to do for the mid-singles conference, we hit on the idea of having a tiki hut complete with mocktails for Friday night as part of the Luau. Being an avid fan of mocktails myself, I'm all for the idea. In the picture below, I'm actually one of the bartenders at the Hot August Nights party our ward puts on every year.

I personally enjoy coming up with new concoctions for mixed drinks. Considering I've had mocktails from all over the western hemisphere, I consider myself somewhat of an expert. My favorite "mocktail" consists of:
  • Club soda
  • Grenadine
  • Orange Juice
  • Lime
  • Ice

Go ahead and try it sometime. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you find me at the mid-singles conference on Friday night, maybe I'll make a special one for you.
