Marianne's, a Local Treasure

Whenever I exit on to Ocean Street in Santa Cruz, I always say to whoever is in the car with me "We have to stop at Marianne's." We don't always stop at Marianne's on our way to or from the beach, but every time we do I'm happy.

Marianne's is a local Santa Cruz treasure famous for its ice cream. You never know what you'll get at Marianne's. My personal favorite is bubblegum, but I've always been a sucker for bubblegum ice cream. For those ice cream fanatics in the San Francisco Bay Area, the ice cream at Marianne's reminds me of the ice cream at Rick's in Palo Alto--rich creamy, and oh so diet busting. You can get thick milk shakes, authentic sundaes, and just about every ice cream treat you can possibly imagine. No trip to Santa Cruz is complete without a trip to Marianne's.

There is always a line at Marianne's and virtually no parking, so be prepared to wait between 10-15 minutes for your ice cream; but I guarantee it's definitely worth it. I recommend carving out some time on Saturday after you made a new friend at the beach bbq, and before you want to impress that special someone later that night at the Cocoanut Grove. Heck maybe you want some alone time with that special someone...You could always share an ice cream soda together at Marianne's.

I'll probably be at Marianne's on Thursday sometime before I check in to Seascape.....Gotta get my ice cream in sometime.....
